Hacking Group Claims Responsibility For EA Server Outage

If you’ve been trying to play EA games online this afternoon, you’ve probably been having problems. That’s because of a DDoS attack on the publisher’s servers, which has impacted its games’ online functionality.

Earlier today, EA tweeted about the problems, notifying players of the outage.

Then the group PoodleCorp tweeted this, claiming responsibility:

PoodleCorp has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks on Blizzard’s and Riot’s servers. The outage is particularly inconvenient for Battlefield fans, since the beta for Battlefield 1 kicked off today.

Our Take
People using DDoS attacks to stifle gamers’ entertainment isn’t anything new, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating for people who were hoping to log some online time today.
