Apple’s Big MacBook Event Is Coming October 27

New iPhone: check. New bigger iPhone: check. New Watch: check. New headphones with no cable that make you look like you jammed electric toothbrush heads in your ears: check. So what’s left for Apple to announce? Laptops and desktops. It’s been years, literally years, since Apple meaningfully upgraded its line of MacBooks Pro and Air, the Mac Mini, or the trash can called Mac Pro.

Luckily, that appears to be about to change. Apple just sent out invites for an event on October 27th, on the company’s campus in Cupertino, and all signs point to a PC-heavy morning.

Bloomberg reported recently that a thinner, faster MacBook Pro will be the star of the show. More strangely, the new laptop might have a secondary display above the keyboard that shows you dynamic function keys relevant to whatever app you’re using. In addition, we expect to see a new MacBook Air with a USB-C port, and potentially a new iMac.

It won’t be Apple’s splashiest event of the year, which is probably why it’s at the company’s small on-campus event center rather than in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, a literal rock concert venue. But for the millions of people who work on laptops and desktops every day, and are tired of using computers that haven’t really been touched since 2012, it’s going to be a big day nonetheless. If you’re in the market for a computer right now, you might want to wait a week.
