Microsoft’s virtual assistant, Cortana, already integrates seamlessly into Windows 10, works on iOS and Android, and will even start showing up in cars soon. Now, it finally has its own smart speaker. The Invoke, made by Harmon Kardon, is very much a me-too device: It can control smart-home devices, set reminders, answer questions, and many other things Amazon Echo and Google Home can also do. But an in-home speaker is particularly important for Microsoft, which wants its virtual assistant to be everywhere, including on devices people don’t just get from their IT department.
